How is Gozo during November?
November is a quiet month on the island of Gozo. No yearly events are organized, and is generally good to say that less visitors travel to Gozo during this month. As a result of this, rates for accommodation and restaurant are cheaper, and you can enjoy your holiday with less expenses. Most restaurant will still be open for the month of November, and you will have a selection where to have dinner. Local dishes include Lampuki preferably toasted or fried. Rabbit stew is a famous traditional dish which can be found in most restaurant. An addition to the local dish, include Maltese sausage and/or goat cheese are the once to go for.
What to do in Gozo during November?
Snorkelling is ideal for November. The sea temperature would be neither cold nor warm. You can enjoy a good swim. In addition, the cooler temperature will attract the fish closer to the shore. This also provides shelter for the winter period, where some species prepare a safe place to lay their eggs. Snorkelling can be enjoyed in any beach during this month. This is because there are less people swimming and the fish will not be scared away.
For those who prefer hiking rather than swimming, November is a good time, if you don’t mind the occasionally short drizzle. The northern caves also known as Tal-Mixta Cave are within walking distance from Il-Barrag Farmhouse B&B. Guests enjoy the countryside walk to get to the cave. Some even prefer to take a snack or packed lunch with them. Once at the cave you can enjoy the scenic view facing Ramla beach.
Another point of interest is the Cittadella. The historical site was the old city of Gozo, and the only fortified location on the whole island. Several museums are present are found inside the Citadel, however, do check their opening hours. These showcase various aspect of Gozo such as archaeology, nature and fauna, folklore, and grain silicon. A visit to the old prison is a go go. On the walls of some prison cells you will see etches of galleons ships. Nonetheless, the Citadel is always open, even during the night. You can enjoy touring the old streets around the buildings, and stairs leading to different parts of the Citadel. Also, it is possible to walk along the fortified wall with extraordinary views of Gozo by day and by night.

Gozo culture in November?
November is associated with the death. In Gozo it is custom that in November one pays his respect to his ancestors. It is practise that mass is celebrated to commemorate their memory. Also, visiting their tombs at the cemetery. People like to take flowers and light up candles for their dead one. With all of this, it is tradition to produce the “bone” sweet. It is a sweet made of pastry filled with crushed almonds. As the name suggest, this particular sweet is in the shape of a bone. Some bakers prefer to cover it with icing.
